Midlife is a time of significant change that can be met with progress or regression as well as a time when new archetypes are waiting to emerge. Using hermeneutic methodology, this thesis explores women's need for changes in archetypal energy at midlife and during the midlife astrological cycles. The research focuses particularly on the midlife passage of childfree career women, a population that is marginalized by society. These women have most likely lived the first half of life through the archetype of Athena and overidentification with masculine principles. Imbalance in terms of lack of relation to the feminine archetypal energy within may leave childfree career women with a unique wound at midlife. This thesis provides an understanding of common midlife astrological cycles in correlation with feminine archetypes that may be used by therapists to guide these women through difficult or confusing times during midlife.
